When this painting was sold in auction for a cool £17 million, I mused upon the irony of the whole situation, because during his entire lifetime Van Gogh despaired of ever being a good enough painter,to even be able to sell any of his work. At the time of his death,he had only managed to sell one painting and that was bought by his faithful brother.
