The Best Viewing Distance for a Monet
I did mention previously that a Monet should be viewed from a distance and that the closer you get that the painting blurs and loses it's effect.Well this little exercise should prove this.Take a good look at each increasing size image until you decide which is the optimum distance before the painting begins to lose definition.I suggest that when you view a Monet in reality in a gallery that you try to step back as far as possible.People WILL walk in front of you but try to resist as the reward is to see a Monet as it should be viewed.In fact try this with most Impressionist work for a better appreciation of this particular art movement.
